"Helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ."AWANA is a nondenominational ministry focused on reaching boys and girls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him. AWANA is an international organization reaching children in over 110 countries. Pollock Pines Community Church has clubs for children ages three years through 6th grade.
Cubbies is the club for 3 and 4 year olds. Club night will include handbook time, games, activities, story time and awards. Parents are active participants by helping their children work on their weekly handbook lessons at home.
Sparks are the kindergarten, first, and second graders. Truth and Training (T&T) is the club for third through sixth grades. They meet together for opening ceremonies, and then break out to their separate groups for the remainder of the evening. Our club night for the Sparks Club and the T&T Club is divided into three sections; Game time, Handbook time and Council Time.
Game time is our drawing card. Many of the games played are unique to AWANA clubs. This fast moving, organized game time stresses team work. The kids are divided into four teams that work together towards earning points.
Handbook time emphasizes individual growth as the kids memorize scripture and related items from their handbooks. Each child works at their own pace to pass sections in their handbook. They are rewarded with points for their team, and AWANA Bucks for their accomplishments in handbook time.
Council Time brings the kids back together for a Bible Story or lesson. The children are presented with the Gospel several times through the club year, and many come to faith in Jesus Christ. At the end of the club night, awards are presented to clubbers for their accomplishments in their handbooks. Points are totaled for the teams, and AWANA Bucks are presented to the winning team.
Several times during the year we have an AWANA Store. Here the children spend the AWANA Bucks they have earned at club. The store features items such as small toys, pencils, AWANA items, small candies, etc.
